Mount Tamborine | ||||
Beautiful Mount Tamborine is one of Elissa's favourite places on earth. It is situated just behind the Gold Coast and makes up part of the Hinterland in South East Queensland Australia. Mount Tamborine holds many special memories for her (see her memories page). From the fresh crisp mountain air to the soft drizzles of rain, the 'mountain' as it is known by the locals holds tourists captive from all over the world. The background picture on this website was taken on the mountain in the fresh morning sun, sitting back, sipping a wonderful hot steamy fresh cup of coffee. |

The mountain is an artist's delight filled with the inspiration of bird calls, misty mornings and foggy evenings, a myriad of colours of the rainforests that is a living canvas in itself.
Eli thinks there are a couple of places you should visit - first up, the Polish Place.... overlooking the edge of the cliff, you can eat traditional polish food and relax watching the local hangliding. An old family friend of her parents owns this tranquil retreat - so say hi from Elissa. You must visit the local Forest Cafe too where the log fires and deep lounges will melt you and make you wish you could stay forever ! ( YES the coffee is greeeat ) Hang out at Cancy's - the Irish pub with delicious food and folk music where the locals hang out... |
The mountain is a curious haven for so many different cultures and groups of people. The diversity of the people lend to its charm and magnetism. Colourful braided artists mix it with avocado and kiwifruit growers, the literacy set and rhubarb farmers. |

Whilst Eli could write a reams about the mountain without even coming up for air, there is probably nothing she could write that hasn't been written before.. so in saying that, please go visit the local websites ( they are linked below) or better still, take a trip to the mountain yourself ! | One of the loveliest people you could ever hope to meet is Reverend John Latta of Tamborine mountain church. You can find him every Sunday morning in the local Vonda Youngman community centre preaching Gods love. He is genuine, warm and down to earth and a local to boot!
