From the Ethiopian goatherder who shared his first cup of coffee with the Abott of a monastery in the 3rd century to the busy side walk cafe's of today, people all over the world have been sidetracked, wooed, addicted to and savoured the wonderful taste and aroma of coffee.

The delectable beans found themselves travelling first class around the world from  Arabia to Egypt, Syria and Turkey. They first arrived in Europe in the 17th Century and became the darling of society. Treated like royalty, the humble coffee bean began its rise to world wide domination with the opening of coffee houses and clubs.

Today coffee stands on its own as the great success story that has traditionally kept families together, entertained the masses and been sipped by the elite !. Research has shown that Finland leads the way in appreciating the fine art of coffee canoodling with an average of each person drinking 1400 cups a year ! Australia has enjoyed a steady growth with sippers indulging in 463 cups each annually. Elissa thinks she probably contributes to around half of those figures. : Perhaps her life can be measured in coffee spoons.....)

Moccona Espresso Coffee is grown on small trees. The red berries are harvested and it can take up to 5 years for a coffee tree to produce fruit. The tree will last for up to 15 years before deteriorating. Elissa has been toying with the idea of having her own mini coffee planation in her back yard. :) When the coffee berries are harvested they must be dried and prepared until they are 'green'. From there, they are roasted in different degrees to give the coffee its different strengths and flavours. There are more than 100 major coffee growing regions in the world and Australia produces its own fine blends of coffee that make it unique.

Millions of people around the globe are swooned by the unforgettable allure of rich coffee aromas.
